GW3s delivered a superb response this week, bouncing back in style after last week’s defeat with a thrilling 6–3 victory over Burnt Ash. The team showed grit, control, and moments of real class to secure all three points heading into the Christmas break.
First Half
GW started brightly and took a deserved lead thanks to vice-captain Andy Franklin, who finished confidently after a well-timed assist from Allan Sains.
Moments later, GW doubled their advantage from a short corner routine: Allan Sains fired home, with Darren Laws providing the crucial assist.
Burnt Ash managed to pull one back before the break, but GW still went in leading 2–1 and full of momentum.
Second Half
The goals kept flowing after the restart. Captain James Zygmant got himself on the scoresheet with a tidy finish, made possible by a beautiful weighted pass from Franklin.
Zygmant then turned provider, setting up John Knowls, who produced a moment of brilliance—gracefully lobbing the keeper to extend the lead.
Not done yet, Zygmant struck again from a short corner, this time with Franklin providing the assist.
To round off a standout team performance, Franklin grabbed the final goal of the match, slotting the ball coolly through the keeper’s legs to make it 6–3 and put the game beyond doubt.
Looking Ahead
GW head into the Christmas break sitting comfortably mid-table, but with performances like this one, the squad will be confident and hungry to push higher up the league come the new year.
A brilliant way to finish 2025—roll on January!
