GW3 bounced back in emphatic fashion this weekend with a convincing 4–1 victory over Folkestone. From the first whistle, GW3 looked determined to respond after recent setbacks, showing sharpness and control across the pitch.
The breakthrough came within the first ten minutes when Chris Bradley reacted quickest to a rebound off the keeper, calmly slotting the ball into the back of the net after a spell of sustained GW pressure.
Not long after, GW doubled their lead. Vice-captain Andy Franklin found himself perfectly placed after a pinpoint pass from Tom Simcock, and made no mistake in finishing to make it 2–0.
Before the break, GW3 captain James Zygmant got in on the action, finishing clinically through the Folkestone keeper’s legs after being played through by Franklin. It was a captain’s goal that capped a dominant first half, with GW heading into halftime 3–0 up.
The momentum continued into the second half, with Tom Simcock deservedly adding his name to the scoresheet following a slick piece of play orchestrated by Amit Ubhi.
Folkestone managed to pull one back late in the game, but it proved only a consolation as GW saw out the match confidently to secure a well earned 4–1 win.
A strong all-round performance from GW solid at the back, creative in midfield, and clinical up front, sets the tone perfectly for the matches ahead.
