GW defeat Tunbridge away from home

Tunbridge Wells 4 vs GW3s

GW3s get their 2nd win under their belt!

After last weeks great result against Gore Court with a 4-0 win, GW were hoping to get another win, on their away trip against Tunbridge Wells 4s (TW), but this time without their illustrious leader Ziggy, who was away sunning himself in Turkey, which meant vice Captain Andy Franklin stepping in to lead the team.

The first half started very cagey, with both teams having chances, but with some great defending, led by MOM Chuckie, TWs chances were thwarted.

GW started to grow in the 1st half, looking the slightly stronger team and nearly took the lead with Franklin hitting the ball firmly towards the right post, only for it to hit Masons feet, which was not spotted by the Umpires and Mason put the ball in the goal, but Franklin being the kind soul that he is, told the umpire it had hit a GW foot and should not stand, so the goal was ruled out, which earned Franklin the DOD award.

Despite Mason being "robbed" of his 1st goal, not too long after, the ball was forced into the TWs D, with Franklin guiding the ball into Masons path, and Mason forced it firmly between the keepers legs, 1-0 to GW, which is how the 1st half ended.

Into the 2nd half and again the game could have gone either way, with both teams creating chances, but not leading to any goals, a quick hit out from the back from MOM Chuckie, found Fitton in space, who quickly passed the ball through to Franklin, who picked up the ball just outside the TW 23, which meant a 1 on 1 with their keeper, Franklin drove into the D with the ball and slotted the ball perfectly into the far left corner, with a clinical shot in off the far post, 2-0 to GW3s.

The game continued with further chances being created by both teams, with keeper Jack making some strong saves to keep his well deserved clean sheet.

GW almost went down to 10 men with "bad boy" Chip getting a talking to by the experienced umpire for one of his tackles, but thankfully, the umpire was in a generous mood and Chip escaped any further punishment.

Up the other end with GW on the attack again, some silky skill from Amit, dazzled one of the TW players so much, the TW player ended up on their backside.

GW took the lead further to 3-0 with Fitton smashing the ball into the goal with an assist from Mason.

The final goal to make it a comfortable 4-0 win to GW, came from a pin point pass from Franklin at the top of the D, beating two TW defenders into the path of Mason, who calmly and skillfully took it around the TW keeper, slotting the ball firmly into the goal.

This takes GW to 3rd in the league with a plus 5 goal difference; with next weeks game at home against the current league leaders Sevenoaks 7s, GW have a great opportunity to improve their league position.
