GW3s returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion on Saturday with a commanding 4-0 victory over Gore Court, showcasing confidence, control, and clinical finishing.

The opening goal came early in the first half, with Amit Ubhi getting GW3s on the scoresheet. Andy Franklin picked out a sublime pass to set him up, and Ubhi made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom right corner.

Momentum stayed with the home side as captain James Zygmant doubled the lead. After his initial effort was parried by the keeper, Zygmant reacted quickest to bury the rebound, sending GW3s into the break 2-0 up.

The second half continued much the same, with GW3s dominating both possession and territory. The third goal was a moment of individual brilliance from vice-captain Andy Franklin, who weaved his way past three defenders and the keeper before coolly finishing to make it 3-0.

Franklin was involved again for the fourth and final goal. After some excellent team play, he found himself two-on-one with the keeper, but in a moment of unselfishness, squared the ball to Andy Fitton, who calmly placed it into the back of the net.

The only scare came in the dying minutes, as Gore Court won a short corner. However, goalkeeper Jack McManus was determined to protect his clean sheet. He pulled off a strong save, though his clearance accidentally struck umpire Keaton Gates in the face. Fortunately, Keaton was not seriously hurt and was able to blow the final whistle moments later.

A strong all-round performance saw GW3s secure their first win of the season, bouncing back impressively after last week’s loss. With momentum now on their side, the team will look to build on this result in the coming fixtures.
