GWHC 2s faced Marden in a must win game against the team propping up the bottom of the table and GW having recently had a string of disappointing results. The game got off to a lacklustre start, not helped by Attwood retiring hurt with what turned out to be a fractured little finger.
Although some flashes of good hockey in the first half there were opportunities for Marden who were calving open the midfield, and piling pressure on the newly formed defensive four. Going into half time we were 2-1 up thanks to well taken goals by Bonner and Silverton, but there was clearly room for improvement.
A rallying cry from Jenkins and tactical input from stand in captain Jesse Bradley did the trick and GW took the game to the farmers and never looked like losing. The improvement in the second half was largely due to an outstanding performance by Bradley, ably supported by his wing backs.
