GWHC 1s secured an impressive 4-1 victory over Folkestone 4s in their season opener at Three Hills Sports Park, showing great resilience after a slow start.

The home side took an early lead, catching GWHC off guard with a quick break. This proved to be the wake-up call the team needed. A clever through ball from Ryan Ames found Kyran Pender, who calmly slotted home the equaliser. The team then shifted into a higher gear. Kyle Rowe set up Pender for his second goal, and Pender returned the favor by assisting Max Shilling to score just before the halftime whistle.

The second half was a more even affair as Folkestone pushed for a way back into the game. GWHC’s defence, led by Steve Lett with his superb game reading and interceptions, held strong. Goalkeeper Keaton Gates also made a string of crucial saves, including a spectacular diving stop to deny a Folkestone drag flick. The deadlock was finally broken in the 68th minute when a breakaway run from Zak R set up Pender to complete his hat-trick and seal a memorable opening day victory.
